The climate crisis is increasing the severity and intensity of extreme weather events like flooding and heat in neighborhoods like Northern Manhattan. In an effort to create a comprehensive community driven emergency preparedness plan that focuses on climate related disasters, WE ACT for Environmental Justice has partnered with East Harlem COAD and Harlem Emergency Network to create the Climate Ready Uptown Plan (CRUP).
CRUP is a physical pamphlet that helps Northern Manhattan community members understand their susceptibility to climate related disasters – especially extreme heat and flooding - as well as how to prepare themselves and their communities. In this 90-minute virtual workshop, WE ACT will distribute a digital CRUP pamphlet to attendees and engage participants in the basics of how to use and personalize their version of CRUP. Participants will have the opportunity to pick up a physical pamphlet after the workshop.
This workshop will be held virtually on Thursday, September 7th, at 6pm, and will be recorded and shared with participants who RSVP.
