Do you want to protect people from the toxic chemicals found in many cosmetics and other personal care products? Help us convince the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to expand its Safer Choice program to include these products by signing this petition. Personal care and cosmetic products remain a largely unregulated category of products. In the past few years, research has shown the disproportionate effects of these products and their health risks on communities of color.

While the EPA already monitors these chemicals in household products through their Safer Choice program, they currently do not monitor other product categories like beauty and personal care products. Expanding this program would allow the EPA to evaluate products we use everyday against the Safer Choice Standard and the Criteria for Safer Chemical Ingredients to identify and brand a Safer Choice. These are protective measures and address a broad range of potential toxicological effects, found here.

A federal standard that consumers can trust is one step of the solution for the disproportionate health effects on communities of color and their lack of regulations. The solution is clear, join us and help advocate for healthier and safer communities.
