Our monthly membership meetings are a space to discuss upcoming advocacy efforts and collaborate with fellow community members on environmental justice issues.
Every year from September 15 to October 15 National Latinx* Heritage Month is celebrated. This month is a time to recognize the contributions Latinx people have made in the United States. We celebrate all Latinx people from countries, ranging from the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Africa.
On October 13, Join WE ACT to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month as we explore the environmental justice movement in Latin America and the Caribbean and how Uptown can be in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South.
Come join us as we host a program about grassroots international solidarity and environmental justice.
*At WE ACT we have adopted the term Latinx. We use this term because it is a gender-inclusive and non-binary term for Latin Americans of diverse identities and orientations living in the U.S.A. Using this term does not mean we are trying to erase feminine and masculine identities, rather we are embracing all the identities of our community in northern Manhattan and making sure that all Latinx people are seen and heard.
