On December 15th, New Yorkers from all walks of life will rally across New York state to launch the #OurHomesOurPower 2023 legislative campaign. It’s a moment for us to put corporate landlords on notice, and make clear that tenants and homeless New Yorkers will have a powerful voice in Albany this upcoming session.

The #OurHomesOurPower platform includes: Good Cause eviction protections, the Housing Access Voucher Program, the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act, the Rent Guidelines Board and Emergency Tenant Protections Act, and creating a Social Housing Development Authority (SHDA).

These bills will do so much to prevent displacement and ensure every New Yorker can afford a safe roof over their head.

The stakes of this upcoming legislative session could not be bigger. Housing will be at the top of the policy agenda in Albany, and we need a robust and energetic campaign to ensure the needs of tenants aren’t drowned out by the real estate lobby.
